February Buhay Katiwala Participants — Onward with the Spirituality of Stewardship

After the big event of the spirituality of stewardship conference held in February 9-12, 2009 in Tagaytay entitled Journey to Interwovenness–A Cross-Cultural Sharing of Stewardship Experiences Towards Becoming a Community of Disciples, A Church of the Poor, we are elated to know that most of the participants brought home the experiences and learning from the different parishes and dioceses who shared. Below are some of the updates:

San Pedro Cathedral, Davao City, Archdiocese of Davao

Auxiliary Bishop George Rimando together with Frs. Anthony Silvosa and Leonardo Dublan, Jr. who attended the February conference are now overseeing the initial planning and implementation of the stewardship program in two pilot parishes namely Ascension of the Lord’s Parish in Matina where Fr. Dublan is parish priest and San Pedro Cathedral, Davao City under Bp. Rimando and Fr. Silvosa.

St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Marikina City, Diocese of Antipolo

Participants Lito, Bella and Marie echoed the SOS in their parish using the Buhay Katiwala powerpoint and the video “Gimong.” A Formation Team of at least 20 members are now assisting them. Fr. Louie Puentespina, parish priest is pleased at the progress their plans is making. Ultimately, they envision stewardship as the spirituality of their flagship program which is BEC.

Diocese of Kabankalan bp. buzon3 - kabankalan

Under the leadership of Bishop Patrick Buzon, SDB, DD, the diocese continues with its integration of the Stewardship Commitment Card in all parishes during the Eucharistic Celebrations. Meantime, they are preparing for the Third Diocesan Pastoral Assembly where the Spirituality of Stewardship plays a major area in the direction of the diocese.

Apostolic Vicariate of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro

Participants from the Sto. Niño Cathedral and Holy Family Parish are already implementing the Spirituality of Stewardship prior to the conference. However, what inspired the parishioners of Sto.Niño Cathedral was the magnitude of impact of using video documentation in promotion of stewardship. They are now planning to do a video for their vicariate. Holy Family parishioners on the other hand are integrating the materials they got from the conference in their on-going stewardship activities.

Fr. Feliciano Agatep, BEC Commission, Apostolic Vicariate of Tabuk

Fr. Aga has just fininshed echoing the stewardship modules to at least two (2) of their mission stations: the Parish Pastoral Council and BECs.The SOS modules shared by SPI last February have become part of their BEC organizing modules.

St. Peter of Verona Parish, Bataan, Diocese of Balanga

On Saturday, May 9, Msgr. Tony Dumaual, participant to a number of stewardship gatherings organized by SPI will present the Spirituality of Stewardship to the Diocesan Pastoral Clergy in the context of possible integration into the Diocesan Pastoral Plan.

SPI will continue to make follow-up calls and visits in preparation for the strategic plans that will implement the action points raised in the conference.
