The Third Look at Jesus promotes a biblically-rooted view of Jesus from the perspective of the poor and the oppressed. The workshops, retreats and training provide a fresh and inspiring perspective of Jesus – his values, his teachings, his ministry of healing the sick and his eventual persecution and death.
This program is the result of the seminal work of one of SPI’s founders, Fr. Carlos Abesamis SJ, a biblical scholar who dedicated his life in search of the biblical Jesus and his mission on earth. This program continues Fr. Abesamis’ calling to share the spiritual gifts and life-blessings of faith to nurture and inspire Jesus-seekers everywhere.

Fr. Abesamis' books are available at SPI

Hi there,
I am Karl Comiling, personal friend of Sr. Frances Manabat. I am surprised to know upon visiting your website that Fr. Abesamis is one of the founders of SPI, and that you have copies of his book, “Third Look at Jesus”. Our professor in Philosophy was using this book as our main reference in our course, Jesus and Mission. I just want to know if you have Filipino translation of “Third Look at Jesus” because I want to get one copy. Your response is greatly appreciate. Thank you and God bless!

Dear Karl,
Greetings!
Glad to hear that you are one of the many touched by Abe’s work. Sorry to tell you that we do not have a Tagalog version of the Third Look at Jesus. We have a Cebuano version though in case you are interested.
Regards,
Joey

The Third Look at Jesus is the seminal work of the biblical scholar, Fr. Carlos Abesamis, SJ. According to this perspective, there are three ways of looking at Jesus: from the perspective of early Christians; the perspective of the Romans; and the Third Look which is the way Jesus looks at himself. The kicker here is that if we compare the Third Look with the way the poor see Jesus, you will see that they are very similar. In both perspective, Jesus is seen as the midwife of the Kingdom, a new world order where there is peace, development. justice and integrity of creation.
