Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of PCP II

Over 500 came to celebrate

 

The Jan 13-15, 2011, 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Plenary Council of the Philippines II or PCP II was an historical and significant event. SPI extends its congratulations and warmest regards to all who toiled hard to make this national celebration a big success!

Organized by the St. Vincent School of Theology in partnership with Mary Mother of the Poor Foundation, Adamson University and the Socio-Pastoral Institute, the National Conference mainly targeted the participation of theology students from the different schools of theology all over the country and members of the different Catholic Lay Movements.

Presentations and discussions revolved around how PCP II engaged the local church in its vision and mission. Fr.  Rolando Tuazon, CM, Chairperson of the Steering Committee provided the Conference Overview while Fr. Greg Banaga, President of Adamson University gave the Welcome Address.

The speakers in the Conference were Bishop Leonardo Legaspi, OP, DD, Bishop Pablo David, DD, STD, Fr. Daniel Pilario, CM, PHd, STD, Bishop Teodoro Bacani Jr., DD, STD, Ms. Agnes Brazal, PhD, STD and Sr. Leticia Garcia, DC.

The reactors, on the other hand, were Bro. Karl Gaspar, CSsR, PhD, Ms. Rissa Singson-Kawpeng, Editor-in-Chief, Kerygma Magazine, Fr. Dexter Prudenciano, RCJ, Fr. Enrico Adoviso, Fr, Mar Arenas, STL, MA and Joey Clemente of SPI.

Eucharistic Celebrations for the 3 day event were led by Bishop Broderick Pabillo, DD, STD of the Archdiocese of Manila, Fr. Fernando Suarez, CC,  Founder of Mary, Mother of the Poor Foundation and Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales, DD, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Manila.

Thank you to the over 500 participants who came from around the country who attended the Celebration and expressed their commitment to continue to explore new ways of doing theology in the light of the breakthroughs and inspirations of PCP II.

  1. hello i am seminarian andres nuesca jr from the immaculate conception school of theology vigan city. i am one of the participants of pcp2 after 20 years. i am now working on my thesis church of the poor: revisiting pcp2 after 20 years. hope you can help me to find sources to make my thesis authentic and reliable. hoping for your response. i am now in manila doing my research in different universities……god bless you always
